What are your fees?

This is probably the most common question and one that is very difficult to answer at an early stage. We need to know the total scope of a project as well as the extent of our involvement prior to us being able to provide a fee proposal.

We aim to provide a fixed fee wherever possible which is broken down into different stages (concept design, developed design, etc). Our fee for a new home is typically based on a percentage of the estimated construction cost, however, as each project is unique and varies in complexity it is best to contact us in the first instance so that we can talk through your project in detail and give you a more comprehensive indication of the professional fees involved.  

Where do I start?

Each project, circumstance, and nature of commission is different. Common to most is the requirement for a brief. This should be as comprehensive as possible. It needs to detail your wants, needs, and requirements. It could include sizing's, budget, images of appealing products or buildings, functions and lifestyle, requirements for furniture/art etc. Really its as much information as possible to convey your project to us. Sometimes the brief may not be resolved and evolves with the project, but there is always a start or reason for the project. Once you have identified the brief contact us and we can advise where to go from there for your particular project.

How much does it cost for an initial consultation?

There is no charge for an initial consultation in our office. If we visit you at your home, then there is a nominal fee of $90.00 + GST. This is credited towards your first account if you choose to involve us.

Can I choose to engage you for one of your services only? For example Interior Design?

Yes, you can engage us for any of the services outlined.

I already have a design for my house, can you just draw up the plans?

As a general rule -no. We feel it is very important to maintain the design integrity of all SPACE projects and for that reason would prefer that we have an input into the design of all the projects passing through our practice.

What if my project isn't in the lower half of the North Island?

We have projects throughout New Zealand, and love to be involved in projects outside the greater Wellington regions. There may be some costs involved in travel, or we may be able to combine your project with others in your area and share costs. Sometimes we will work with local colleagues during construction to minimise travel. Contact us and we can work through the options with you.
