SUMMERSET IN THE BAY

Summerset in the Bay is a retirement village located in Napier, Hawkes Bay .

The project provides for a total of 164 individual accomodation units comprising of a large number of townhouse duplex's, two apartment buildings, and a main building with care facility including accommodation in both serviced apartments and high care bed-sits.

This building also houses the village reception area and administration centre as well as communal and recreation facilities, including a hair and beauty salon, a theatre and library, a café and bar, restaurant and lounge facilities, a gym and spa, indoor bowls and billiards, as well as a large lounge for staging shows and events.

The concept for Summerset in the Bay was to create a sense of balance: to achieve the necessary building accomodation requirements whilst creating a generous, secure and enjoyable environment in which to live.

To achieve this it was essential that the villas possess an element of privacy. Through screening, terracing and planting, each duplex acts as a stand-alone home whilst retaining a visual relationship with the neighbourhood and the larger community of the village. The serviced apartments also have private terraces opening out onto communal landscaped areas with a courtyard and garden, a pond and shady arbor.

This further reinforces an interaction with the wider village while still providing essential personal space. The development also features outdoor recreation facilities and extensive landscaping and provides a petanque court, a bowling green, mini-golf, croquet, private and communal gardens, garaging facilities, garden shed and workshop, village green, walkways, and rest areas. The development sits within the wider context of the Napier community easily.
