SPACE Architecture Studio is an award-winning architecture and interior design practice based in Mana (Wellington) and Waikanae on the Kāpiti Coast. Established in 2001 by directors Tushka Glintmeyer and Nathan Rooney, SPACE has grown into a collaborative team of Registered Architects, Architectural Designers, and Interior Design specialists. In 2024, Stuart Ashdown joined the leadership team as an Associate, bringing further depth to the studio’s design capability and technical expertise.

Our diverse portfolio spans residential, commercial, and community projects, unified by a focus on delivering thoughtful, enduring, and sustainable architecture. We are committed to creating spaces that are not only beautiful and functional but that tread lightly on the earth and support the wellbeing of those who inhabit them.

Each project is an opportunity to explore the relationship between people and place — to create synergy between built form and the natural environment, always within the framework of the site, the client’s aspirations, and the wider ecological context.

Inspired by nature, we prioritise regenerative thinking in our work. This means designing for energy and water efficiency, choosing non-toxic, locally appropriate materials, and fostering a sense of connection to nature. Our approach seeks to enhance both human and environmental wellbeing, with every project contributing positively to its surroundings.

Whether at home, at work, or in the spaces in between, we believe that well-designed environments enrich daily life. With a deeply contextual approach, our work is grounded in place, guided by purpose, and shaped through collaboration.
